Massage Pre-Treatment and Aftercare Advice

Massage Pre-Treatment Preparation
All my clients are required to be freshley showered and clean prior to my arrival for a massage treatment not only for hygeine reasons, but also because it improves the effectiveness of the massage oils we use. It can also help if you can doing a little streching if you have time.

Massage Aftercare
Apart from not wanting to ruin the benefit of all those feel-good endorphins, there are some other key things to consider doing/not doing after your massage. It may sound surprising, but having a massage is like passive exercise so it important to treat your body as you would if you had just taken some exercise... yes... seriously!

  • Drink plenty of water for at least the next 24 hours (tea, coffee and soft drinks do not count)
  • Have a warm bath (not a hot bath)
  • Listen to your body and don't over do it if you are a little sore (this is quite common, especially if you are new to massage)
  • It is completely normal to feel relaxed and sleepy after a massage, so lay down and take a nap if you can
  • Massage often releases emotions and it is important to let them out, don't hold back and you will feel so much better afterwards.
